To get from Techo International Airport to Phnom Penh, compare the airport bus, a taxi and an arranged hotel pickup against your arrival time, luggage and destination. The best choice is the one that completes the whole journey comfortably, including any connection from a public transport stop to your accommodation.

Reviewed on 25 October 2026. Published service hours and routes may change. This guide uses the airport's official transport information and offers planning advice; it does not quote a personally tested journey time or a fixed fare.

Check the airport on your reservation

Begin with the airport name and code on your airline booking. For a Techo arrival, use Techo International Airport, KTI, in pickup messages and map searches. Do not send a driver a saved pin from an older article about Phnom Penh's former airport.

Check the date as well as the landing time. An overnight journey can arrive on a different date from the one you remember booking at home. Send the flight number so the person meeting you can identify the service.

Before departure, save the official airport website, your accommodation address and the transfer contact offline. A booking screenshot should show enough information to identify the destination without needing to reopen an app.

What the Airport Express Bus page currently lists

The official Techo Airport transport page lists daily Airport Express Bus operating hours of 05:30 to 23:30. It describes a route between the airport and Kouch Kanong Circle, with designated stops including Canadia Garden and the Royal University of Law and Economics.

Read the current stop list and compare it with your destination. A route into Phnom Penh does not mean a direct service to every hotel. Identify where you would leave the bus and how you would complete the remaining distance with your bags.

Check fare, payment method, boarding location and departure arrangements through the airport's current information before relying on the service. We have not supplied an unverified ticket price or frequency. The published operating period alone does not establish a guaranteed departure at the moment you reach the stop.

Decide whether the bus suits this arrival

The bus may suit you when its hours match your expected time outside arrivals and its route leaves you with a manageable final connection. Compare that arrangement with the needs of your group, rather than choosing on the basis of a single low advertised price.

Allow time between landing and reaching ground transport. Immigration, baggage collection and finding the boarding area are part of the calculation. A flight landing shortly before the published end of service needs a backup arrangement.

Think about luggage handling at both ends. A solo traveller with a compact bag may find an extra connection straightforward. Someone travelling with children, several suitcases or mobility needs should ask about the actual boarding conditions and final transfer before deciding.

Compare a taxi using the complete charge

When considering a taxi, confirm the exact hotel address and total charge before leaving. Ask what is included, how payment works and whether parking, waiting or other fees could be added.

Keep the agreement easy to retrieve. If a price is quoted through an established booking channel, save the confirmation. If you arrange transport at an airport counter, retain the receipt and any vehicle or service identification provided.

A private vehicle can make sense when several people share the journey or when the alternative involves a difficult connection. That does not make every private quote good value. Compare the whole arrangement, including vehicle capacity and the service offered.

Arrange a hotel pickup with clear instructions

Send the property your flight number, date, number of passengers and amount of luggage. Ask whether the quoted vehicle has sufficient space and whether any specific provision, such as a child seat, can be confirmed.

Request the meeting point in writing. Ask how the driver will identify you, how you can identify the driver and whom to contact if you cannot find one another. A general promise that someone will be waiting is less useful than a precise arrival instruction.

Clarify how delays are handled. Ask whether the flight will be monitored, what waiting period is included and what happens if baggage collection takes longer than expected. Settle these points while you still have time to compare options.

Plan the last connection to your accommodation

Look at the hotel map pin and full address together. Some properties have similar names, while a neighbourhood description may cover a larger area than you expect. Ask the hotel to confirm its preferred arrival point if the entrance is difficult to locate.

If you take the bus, identify a practical place for the next pickup. Consider where you can wait with luggage and how you will communicate your location. Avoid assuming you can comfortably walk the remaining distance without checking the conditions.

Our Cambodia hotel booking checklist covers arrival arrangements and reception hours. Confirm late check-in separately from transport: successfully reaching a building does not establish that someone will be available to admit you.

Keep the first evening flexible

A late or tiring arrival is a poor time for a tightly timed restaurant reservation on the opposite side of town. Choose an easy first meal and leave additional exploration optional.

Ask the accommodation about food availability near your expected check-in time. If a late arrival changes the plan, you will already know which options remain practical. Travellers with dietary needs should make the necessary arrangements before the flight.

Keep documents, valuables and the first-night essentials in cabin baggage. A charger, accommodation details and anything you need immediately should be available without unpacking a suitcase in the vehicle or at reception.

Prepare for the return journey too

For your flight home, work backwards from the airline's check-in and airport-arrival instructions. Add the transfer, an appropriate traffic buffer and the time needed to leave your hotel with luggage.

Recheck the transport arrangement before departure day. A journey that worked well on arrival may not suit an early return flight or a different pickup location. Ask the operator to confirm the collection point and time.

If you plan shopping beforehand, use our last-day Phnom Penh guide to protect the airport window. Keep the transfer as a firm commitment and fit optional activities around it.

A straightforward arrival sequence

Before flying, confirm your airport, entry documents, first hotel and transport choice. After landing, complete the official arrival process, collect your luggage and follow the agreed boarding or meeting instructions.

Keep an alternative if your preferred service is unavailable. A clear hotel address and a working contact method make changing plans easier. For the rest of the journey, return to the Cambodia travel checklist and arrange each connection with the same attention to the final destination.
